In the ever-changing landscape of education, online schools have become a popular choice for students seeking flexible learning environments. However, attending classes from the comfort of your home can sometimes leave students feeling disconnected from their peers. Making friends at an online school may seem challenging, but fear not! There are plenty of ways to build meaningful connections and create a vibrant social circle at virtual schools like Utah Connections Academy.
1. Engage in the Virtual Classroom:
At UCA students attend LiveLessons through Zoom Class. Joining LiveLessons can help you connect with other UCA students through real-time chat, video conferencing, and other collaborative tools. Take advantage of these opportunities to engage actively with your classmates. Participate in discussions, ask questions, and respond to others' comments. By showing interest in the course material and being an attentive listener, you'll naturally build connections with your fellow students.
2. Attend Virtual and In-Person Events and Field Trips:
Throughout the school year, UCA hosts many events and field trips. Events will be held both virtually and in person! Some virtual events you can look forward to are the UCA talent show, the pet show, and graduation. In-person events are held throughout the state and range from museum visits and roller skating to Prom. Attending these events provides students with ample opportunities to connect with other students.
3. Join a Club:
UCA offers a variety of clubs. We currently have 20+ clubs that students can join and this list is always growing! We have clubs for students that are interested in books, cooking, anime, art, science, chess, Minecraft, and more! For a full list of clubs at UCA, please visit www.uca.school/clubs. Joining a club allows you to connect with other UCA students that have the same interests as you!
